Discover the history of our hotel
At the beginning, in 1870
The Hôtel François Premier was created in 1870. The building first belonged to the CAGON family, and was bought in 2001 by an industrialist from Charente Maritime, Jean BIAIS. Several directors have succeeded one another at the head of the hotel, including Alain THEPAULT until 2003, then Fabienne FERRARD until 2005.
In 2012, after 7 years of dormancy, it was a couple of hoteliers, Marc and Isabelle PERON who embarked on a complete renovation of the Hôtel François Premier.
The Hôtel François Premier then enters the 21st century. Renovated to 4 star standard, the hotel has 30 rooms including 4 suites, a renowned bar, Louise, a small, but not less pleasant, heated indoor swimming pool, a hammam, a massage room and a gym. Access to the parking and the garden allows you to admire the impressive frames.
In 2021, Joackim NOBLOT and Amaury LEGRAND, partners in the hotel management company François Premier Hospitality, are integrating this Cognac institution into their portfolio.
The hotel has welcomed many personalities throughout its history. The most famous is undoubtedly Charles de Gaulle, who stayed for 2 weeks in October 1914, after being wounded in combat. At that time, the building was still called the Hôtel de Londres.
Located in the heart of the town of Cognac, the privileged location of the hotel allows you to enjoy the economic, cultural and gastronomic life, all on foot.
So welcome to the Hôtel François Premier Cognac, you are in the right place!
